My name is Fin, and ever since I can remember I've been in love with video games as a media, and for the last few years have been studying Computer Games Development to create and design my own games and finally contribute to the field that I've been so interested in since my early childhood.
My love of videogames sparked at a young age when I was introduced to them thanks to my family's collection of vintage games and technology. I quickly learnt that it would be a large part of my life and something I would soon aspire to be a part of career-wise.
I have a history of web/computer-based creation from as far back as secondary school where I found myself creating small projects using programs such as Adobe Animate (formerly Flash) and Canva in my spare time to get myself acquainted with creating things from my original ideas and to build up my skills.
A few of my favourite style of games that I've found myself pouring a lot of hours into over the years range from massive fantasy RPG franchises to the lesser known indie titles from talented developers who've since inspired me to create my own games.
In terms of my current journey to becoming a game developer, I have since found myself starting to learn specifically tailored software such as Blender and Aseprite so that I can create models, graphics and sprite-sheets for any games I have in the works.
This is the first 3D game I have made all together and as part of a university project, was working on the title as part of a team. I took on the role of the modeler, not only finding textures and creating the small map layout, but finding and creating models for the project. It was a good start to my journey in game development as I was able to learn how to use a game engine and implement my ideas into the project.
Another group game as part of a university project, You Are the Power Source was another game that I worked on as part of a team of aspiring game developers. I was working on modelling as well as character models and animations. During the project I was able to gain great knowledge on character rigging and animation as well as level building.
The most recent game in my repertoire, and again a group game involved in a university project, Sonder: Reflections was a big step up for me as a game designer/developer as it was the first game I was involved in where all of my contributions were completely original in terms of creation. I was proudly able to model and create a scene that we were all happy with when the game was finished.
